The Western Region Development Council (WRDC) – the central coordinating body leading development and promoting opportunity in Al Gharbia, the Western Region of Abu Dhabi – is proud to announce the launch of the very first Al Gharbia Visitors’ Guide for the region. The council will be unveiling the new Al Gharbia Visitors’ Guide at this week’s Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2010. This year marks the first time that WRDC will be exhibiting at ADIHEX in order to showcase some of the region’s unique festivals and events, and to mark this occasion in parallel with the launch of the new Al Gharbia Visitors Guidebook, visitors to the Al Gharbia stand hosted by WRDC will receive a free copy of the guide. The first ever Al Gharbia Visitors’ Guide, developed in coordination with Explorer Publishing, is bilingual, features a host of information on Al Gharbia, and highlights the unique tourist and hospitality attractions of the region. The 244 page book is part of Explorer’s Visitors’ Guide series, and is designed to be perfect for those on short breaks who want to discover some of the hidden gems in the area. Featuring insights into the history, culture, geography and local wildlife of the area, the guide also includes a detailed pull-out map of the region to aid exploration, camping and off-road guides, as well as ratings on local hotels, and information on restaurants and shops. H.E. Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Director General of WRDC, said: Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, ADIHEX opens on Wednesday, 22nd September and runs until Saturday, 25th September. This year’s exhibition will occupy nearly 40,000 square meters of space at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), and is the largest edition of the event taking place over eight halls, since it was launched in 2003. Over 500 exhibitors from over 30 countries will be showcasing their companies, and over 100,000 visitors are expected to attend. Visitors to the exhibition can enjoy camel auctions, saluki beauty contests, art competitions and other traditional hunting and equestrian activities. |
