ADEC Processes Electronic Duty Resumption For 13,000 School Staff Members In Record Time

The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) announce today that it has successfully processed duty resumptions for more than 13,000 Abu Dhabi teachers and administrators. The process was preformed electronically using ADEC’s Self-Service Human Resources (SSHR) system.

“This process aimed to facilitate the procedures for the teaching and administrative staff working in Abu Dhabi schools and help HR, finance and other departments concerned accomplish their duties effectively and efficiently,” said HE Mr. Salem Al Sayari, ADEC’s Executive Director of Support Services.

“Thanks to the new system, time and efforts have been saved. In the past, we used to spend several weeks to review and approve more than 13,000 paper applications. This year, it took us only four days to accomplish the job,” added Al Sayari.

Staff members enter their actual resumption dates through SSHR and each school principal concerned is notified and asked to review and approve the duty resumption details electronically. Following principal’s approval, salary transfer and other procedures are processed.

“Electronic Duty Resumption for education sector staff is one of the latest advanced services introduced by ADEC as part of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This process comes in line with the ‘Green Information Initiative’ launched by the Abu Dhabi government to preserve the environment and minimize waste resulting from unneeded paperwork,” Mr. Al Sayari added.

The ERP’s SSHR was launched last year as part of ADEC’s 10-year Strategic Plan aiming to develop the educational system in Abu Dhabi. ADEC is keen to use the latest technology to facilitate the administrative procedures of all school staff by creating a paperless work environment and meeting quality performance indicators.

To date, more than 60,000 staff transactions have been completed using the SSHR system. These transactions include all types of leave requests, updating personal information such as change of social status, address, etc. SSHR enables any of ADEC staff members to access his/her salary, personal details and update academic, professional and qualification certificates. It also allows staff to apply for salary certificates and other requests.
