Al Qatami And Al Khaili Visit Al Dhabiania Model School

H.E Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education and H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), visited Al Dhabiania Model School in Abu Dhabi to examine the progress of the educational process following the start of the new school year.

Accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC Executive Director of School Operations, and Ms. Soad al Junaibi, Principal of Al Dhabiania Model School, Dr. Al Khaili briefed the Minister of Education about the implementation of the New School Model (NSM) in KG-G3 at Abu Dhabi Public schools. Al Qatami lauded the significant developments achieved in Abu Dhabi schools and the excellent performance of the teaching staff and students thanks to ADEC’s efforts aiming at developing the education sector in the emirate.

Al Qatami pointed out that ADEC’s NSM could be rolled out in all public schools across UAE. “We aim to develop all UAE schools in order to be able to compete at international levels. For this purpose, we use international student assessment tests in order to diagnose the performance level of our students,” he added.

Al Qatami and Al Khaili attended part of the Arabic and English classes where they were briefed by the teachers on the introduction of modern instruction methods, curriculum delivery and interesting learning resources used for teaching the two subjects. They also toured the school library that was transformed into state-of-the-art Learning Resource Center as per ADEC’s initiative, to help improve student academic performance, develop appropriate reading skills and use ICT for gathering information.

The MoE inspected the new bilingual curriculum developed by ADEC for KG-G3 students at the beginning of this school year as part of the NSM implementation. The subjects covered by the new curricula include English, Science, Math, and IT.

“I am proud of the world-class learning environment at the school as it proves that we are on the right track to achieve the required learning outcomes,” Al Qatami added.

Dr. Al Khaili said that ADEC is closely monitoring the NSM implementation, particularly by organizing training programs for the teaching staff at schools throughout the year. “This aims to ensure that all teachers can effectively use the new advanced applications and overcome any potential obstacles in order to help improve the learning outcomes. We appreciate all the efforts exerted by all educators who are doing their best to make the implementation of the new model a great success,” he added.

During their tour, Al Qatami and Al Khaili met with a special needs student who has been integrated into the school in line with ADEC’s plans for integrating SN students into public schools, and made sure that she has been receiving the appropriate educational care and services.

They also visited the school media center where they were interviewed by two promising young students who both demonstrated excellent communication skills that could enable them to pursue a successful career in media.
