Talent Attraction Headlines At ADIPEC Tawteen Graduate Fair And SPE Education Week To Benefit Industry Development And Emiratisation |

Talent attraction and Emiratisation will be under the spotlight as two hot topics being supported at ADIPEC (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference).ADIPEC will host a two-day Tawteen Graduate Fair taking place from 2-3 November. The Tawteen Graduate Fair will run concurrently with the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Education Week and also a series of ADIPEC field trips, designed to provide graduates with insight into the region’s oil and gas operation. The SPE Education Week allows 70-80 top students studying engineering and geosciences or science degree programmes to gain knowledge about the exploration and production industry and learn from and network with professionals in the industry. ADIPEC event director Hifazat Ahmad said: “These initiatives provide two-way benefits for students in allowing them to gain first-hand information and make key connections with top-name companies whilst, inturn, allowing energy businesses to tap in to a key pool of youth talent. Whilst the ADIPEC Tawteen Graduate Fair will provide an excellent platform for the students to understand the industry and peruse suitable employment opportunities, it will also act as a prime opportunity for energy companies to source new local talent from the region’s educational institutes and play their part in the development of Emirati students.” Details of each youth development initiative is as follows: Graduate Fair Held alongside ADIPEC, the Tawteen Graduate Fair is being developed in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council (ADTC) and is supported by lead players such as ADNOC, Exxon Mobil, BP, Dolphin Energy, Total and MEISCO. The fair is set to provide the energy sector’s rising stars with an unrivalled insight into the vast opportunities available to them in the Middle East today as increasing world attention turns to the region. The Tawteen Graduate Fair, hosted at the ADNEC exhibition centre in the Capital Suites, will include a series of presentations from industry leaders highlight case studies and success stories, as well as discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing students within the energy sector. In addition, the focus will be to help students develop a better understanding of the challenges and rewards ahead of them and how they can overcome such challenges successfully. A number of other student opportunities will be featured at this year’s ADIPEC including: Education Week Organised in the conjunction with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the first field trip will take place on 31 October, and will take participants to Schlumberger’s Middle East & Asia Learning Centre, as well as a two-hour kayak trip to explore the Mangrove Lagoon of Abu Dhabi Island and its associated modern carbonate sediments. Another field trip courtesy of ADCO will be to a modern sabkha environment of Abu Dhabi, which is one of the few areas in the world where geoscientists can observe interplay between carbonate and evaporite sedimentation.
