The Careers Fair 2010 is being held in the Higher Colleges of Technology in cooperation with the Higher Colleges of Technology in Madeenat Zayed and Al Ruwais. The event benefits from the sponsorship of a number of key government organisations, including: Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) and Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority. 34 public and private organisations are participating in the Fair, which runs from 31st October to 1st November in Madeenat Zayed and from 3rd to 4th November in Al Ruwais.

H.E. Abdullah Muhair Al Katbi, said: “Al Gharbia is witnessing a promising push to its development in both government and private sectors in line with the government’s economic vision for 2030. I strongly encourage all job-seekers to visit the Careers Fair to see the rewarding careers on offer and the training and development opportunities available in higher education. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to WRDC for organising the Career Fair. I also thank the Higher Colleges of Technology for hosting the Career Fair and for their strong cooperation; and all those who have participated in making this event a great success.”

H.E. Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Director General of WRDC, said: “The Career Fair is the most significant event for education and career development in the calendar in Al Gharbia. This is particularly the case following the previous two years’ successful events. Through our partnership with HCT we are aiming to ensure that we choose the best possible workforce to help develop Al Gharbia and its community in one go.

“At WRDC, our focus is to apply the vision of the government with reference to Emiratisation through the empowerment of the Emirati force with the highest level of competency. As part of this we attract and encourage the Al Gharbia families to remain and work in their home cities after graduation. Furthermore, we aim to support them with the most relevant skills to enable them to help play a vital role in the development of progress which we have witnessed to date.”

Phil Quirke, director of Ruwais and Madinat Zayed HCT campuses, said: “The Careers Fair is the best possible way to tell people what’s on offer. It also allows us to help the many different sectors operating in the region to choose the best people available for positions. The Career Fair helps to introduce students to organisations hiring at graduate entry and helps them to apply for new jobs. The Fair also helps school children to understand the broad range of career options available later in their development and as such helps them to focus on relevant higher education courses. I thank WRDC for their strong cooperation with this initiative in addition to running the Fair.”

It is expected that the Career Fair will be visited by both male and female students from HCT in addition to their parents. Over 3000 are anticipated to attend in total. The first day witnessed an enormous number of applications from graduates to all of the recruiting organisations showing an interest in hiring Emirati graduates.
