Networking Platform to Identify Opportunities for Public and Private Sector Partnerships in Delivering 2030 Vision Targets

A comprehensive two-day agenda highlighting major projects in key industries is lined up for the Abu Dhabi Conference 2010, organisers MEED announced today.

Hosted in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, the conference titled ‘Delivering the Vision’ will be held from 8-9 November at the Fairmont, Bab Al Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The event will gather more than 50 expert speakers and nearly 350 key policy-makers and influencers from over 20 countries.

Edmund O’Sullivan, Chairman, MEED Events, said: “The Abu Dhabi Conference 2010 not only offers an exclusive access to prominent stakeholders in Abu Dhabi, it will also tap into the emirate’s path-breaking mega ventures and offer strategic insights into the latest business and investment opportunities it has to offer.”

Following an official opening ceremony, the first day’s proceedings will include a VIP panel that will review last year’s achievements of both the private and public sectors. It will also explore future developments, challenges, changing laws and new business opportunities that will contribute to the roll out of Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030 plan. Post-lunch, leaders in the finance industry will convene to address international investment strategies and explore the role of foreign institutions and investment banks in building a regional financial hub in Abu Dhabi.

With Abu Dhabi’s oil and gas industry accounting for nine per cent of the world’s proven hydrocarbon reserves and constituting 36 per cent of the emirate’s total GDP, a session on ‘Abu Dhabi - Energy Projects in Focus’ is also scheduled on the first day to evaluate the future of the emirate’s energy sector and the next stages of development. Day-1 will conclude with valuable interactive round tables while the executive summary will be shared post-conference.

O’Sullivan added: “MEED will provide facts, figures and accurate analysis of Abu Dhabi’s robust project pipeline and showcase the prospects presented by both the public and private sectors. We value the inputs received by all participants and in order to capture their feedback, we will be introducing ‘Ask the Audience’, a text voting mechanism, throughout the entire strategic conference.”

The second day will feature a series of sessions focused on aluminum, aviation, environment, oil and gas, petrochemicals, ports, power and water, rail, real estate and roads.

The conference will host renowned panelists including His Excellency Rashed Mubarak Al-Hajeri, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA); His Excellency Mohamed Thani Murshed Ghannam Al-Rumaithi, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI); His Excellency Abdulla Saif Al-Nuaimi, Director of Privatisation, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA); His Excellency Jamal Al-Dhaheri, CEO, Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC); His Excellency Mohamed Al-Azdi, CEO, Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company (ChemaWEyaat); Her Excellency Fatima Al-Jaber, Chief Operating Officer, Al Jaber Group; His Excellency Zaid Al-Siksek, CEO, Health Authority – Abu Dhabi; and His Excellency Mohamed Hasan Al-Qemzi, CEO, Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones (ZonesCorp).

The Department of the Municipal Affairs (DMA) is the strategic partner of this year’s edition. The conference is organised in association with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and supported by Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) as the associate sponsor. HSBC and Union National Bank are the gold sponsors of the event, while Bin Hamoodah Automotive is the official carrier. Business Enterprises Services (BES) and Sika are the silver sponsors and Oracle the official technology partner for the Abu Dhabi Conference 2010.
