New Etihad Club To Offer Unique Opportunities And Access Into Art World |

Etihad Airways is set to launch a new club membership linked to its loyalty program Etihad Guest to cater for the specific interests of art enthusiasts who fly with the Abu Dhabi-based airline, offering opportunities to enjoy masterpieces in the skies and on the ground. The announcement for the new art club, which will go live from December, was made at the Abu Dhabi Art event being held at the Emirates Palace Hotel. The innovative club concept, named Art Connect, sees Etihad partner with renowned art house Opera Gallery and aims to make a major contribution to Abu Dhabi’s goal of becoming an art capital of the world. Art Connect has a number of key elements which include a monthly exhibition of masterpieces and contemporary art in the Etihad premium lounges in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 at Abu Dhabi Airport. Travellers flying in Etihad’s premium cabins will also have the chance to browse a bespoke brochure of artwork designed for all budgets – a first for any airline – from December. Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Etihad is proud to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a centre for art. Art Connect will offer members a fantastic array of local and international art, on display and for purchase, which will create a unique atmosphere in our lounges and aboard our aircraft.” Etihad is set to introduce a special Art Channel on its in-flight entertainment service, hosted by Director of Opera Gallery Middle East, Bertrand Epaud. An Art Educational television program, which will promote art with local universities and education establishments, will also be aired. Mr Baumgartner said: “Art Connect offers the opportunity to build knowledge and understanding of the art world whether you are a newcomer or an expert. It delivers insider and background information while creating opportunities for art collectors from the comfort of your seat on the aircraft or premium lounge.” Bertrand Epaud, said: “Everyone at Opera Gallery is thrilled to be starting this innovative new project with Etihad Airways.
