Abu Dhabi International Motor Show 2010 To Mix Regional Reveals And Adrenalin Thrills

Already the leading motor show in the Middle East in terms of size and prestige, the Abu Dhabi International Motor Show (ADIMS) 2010 is set to reinforce its status by providing a showcase for the regional debut of key models from some of the world’s most popular car manufacturers, including Ford, Land Rover and Toyota.

These premiers will combine with a number of other exciting activities to make this a truly family-orientated event. From karting and live car customising to world record attempts and computer games, there will be something for all members of the family.

But the real focus of the show, of course, will be the cars. Held under the patronage of His Highness Lt Gen Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, ADIMS 2010 will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from December 7 to 11.

International manufacturers have now started to confirm details of their onsite activities. A sure crowd pleaser will be the Ford Middle East stand, which will feature the revolutionary MyTouch driver connect technology, a personalised control system that manages ambient lighting, climate control, music, mobile phone, internet connectivity and much more. The stand will also feature the new 2011 Ford Mustang model range.

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience driving the Mustangs without leaving the stand thanks to an exciting hi-resolution rally driving simulator. The stand will also feature the Mustang Garage, which will show live Mustang customisations in as little as 5 minutes.

On the Al-Futtaim Motors Toyota stand, the company’s latest concept car, the FT-86G, will use ADIMS to make its Middle East debut. This amazing vision of the future takes prime position in the new Gran Turismo Playstation 3 game, and visitors will have the chance to play this game in special pods before its official release. Also on the stand will be the ultra-exclusive Lexus LFA supercar.

Another first for ADIMS 2010 will be the Middle East debut of the Range Rover Evoque, the new 5-door compact luxury car from Range Rover. The exhibition will also give the GCC audience a first look at the new 2011 Land Rover and Range Rover model range.

Away from the manufacturers, a number of auto accessories suppliers will take part in ADIMS 2010. Among them, Lamasat, the Abu Dhabi-based tinting company, will be offering on-site tinting services. They will also have a live demonstration of the all-new “Glass guard film”, a bulletproof material that can be installed in both buildings and cars. Lamasat will be a partner in the ADIMS daily raffle, giving away exciting prizes to visitors over the duration of the show.

A unique outdoor kart track designed by experts from the Al Ain Raceway, one of the Middle East’s top karting facilities, will appeal to both families and lovers of speed. Visitors can race friends and family and experience the rush of adrenaline that comes with driving these top-of-the-range, high-performance go-karts.

“By building an outdoor kart track, we aim to truly set the 2010 edition of the Abu Dhabi International Motor Show apart from other motoring exhibitions in the region,” said Peter McConnell, the ADIMS exhibition director. “We will not only have vehicles on display, we will also have a visitor experience that integrates adrenalin from the track and lifelike gaming. Our visitors will experience the thrill of speed and the excitement of competition, which is largely what our motor show is all about.”
