Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority Makes It Two-In-A-Row As ’World’s Leading Tourist Board’

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which manages, helps develops and promotes the tourism industry in the Arabian Gulf emirate, has been voted ‘World’s Leading Tourist Board’ for the second year running in the World Travel Awards.

The award comes as the authority announced its 2011 hotel guest target of 1.9 million – a 15% rise on its targeted 2010 hotel guest performance of 1.65 million.

“We particularly value this award as it comes from within the industry we work with and ultimately serve,” said Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director General, ADTA. “It is as much an award for Abu Dhabi’s expanding tourism sector as it is for the authority as we now work so closely together that we can very much be viewed as one.”

ADTA, currently employs over 200 people in its UAE capital headquarters, in the heritage city of Al Ain and in offices throughout the UK, Germany, France, Italy, China and Australia.

In the coming 12 months, the authority aims to lead Abu Dubai and its tourism stakeholders to a new era characterised by renewed aspirations and futuristic inspiration. “We are looking to galvanise the industry with a 2011 international promotional message which all can relate to so that together with our wide-reaching stakeholder base we can innovate as the destination comes of age,” added Al Muhairi.

ADTA’s International Promotions Manager, Mubarak Al Nuaimi accepted the award on the authority’s behalf at a glittering ceremony in London’s J.W. Grosvenor House Hotel last night.
