Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, The Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region, Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), a master developer of major cultural, residential and tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi, announced today the re-opening of Hili Fun City, set to take place on Friday November 27th, the first day of Eid Al Adha. Regionally known for its exciting, adventurous and fun-filled experiences, the amusement park located in Al Ain, will be re-opening with nine new rides.

Built in 1985, the park was the first of its kind in the Gulf, drawing visitors from throughout the Emirates and neighboring Oman. Located in the ‘Garden City’ of Al Ain, Hili Fun City has been undergoing renovations since August 20th2009, as part of a two-phased transformation, with phase one due to be completed by the end of this year and phase two scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Phase one will see a complete renovation and repainting of the west side of the park, bringing a total of 9 new rides and 18 attractions that have been completely refurbished. Amongst the attractions will be new rides and experiences such as the Hili Swinger, Circus Swing, Circus Train, Crazy Clown, Jebel Hafeet Twister, Crazy Marina, Jumping Star, Light House and Sinbad’s Farm, ensuring that Hili Fun City is a great day out for all of the family.

Focused on sustainability, it has been planted more than 200 palm trees and more than 25 000 plants. The new landscaping will allow the park to conserve water, while also beautifying the parks green areas, which are inhabited by local birds and wildlife. Recycling trash cans will be introduced to encourage visitors to recycling their rubbish and also to help to educate the local community on the importance of recycling. The popular Antique Cars are also being given a green make-over as they are replaced with new environmentally friendly electrical vehicles.

“Our long term vision for Hili Fun City is to see it return to its glory days, when it was a must-see attraction for visitors and the local community alike. By bringing new attractions to the park we are looking to breathe life back into to Hili Fun City for the younger generations, while stimulating nostalgic memories for the original Hili Fun City generation. By giving the park back to the local community we are able to embrace the rich heritage of Al Ain and enable generations to come to enjoy this local landmark.” comments, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of TDIC.

Phase two of the renovation will feature a newly built amusement park, which will link with the west side of Hili Fun City and is set to be on par with leading amusement park developments from around the globe
