Senior execs of leading global brands endorse importance of the show

Abu Dhabi International Motor Show (ADIMS) 2010 opened today with senior executives of leading international manufacturers visiting the UAE capital to endorse the importance of the show for the Middle East market.

Over 60 exhibitors are showcasing more than 200 vehicles, with a wide range of interactive activities designed to appeal to all the family also on offer, all designed to reinforce the position of ADIMS 2010 as the largest and most comprehensive motor show in the Middle East this year.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Lt Gen Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the show will run until December 11 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

One of the highlights of the show is undoubtedly the regional premier of the new 5-door compact luxury car, the Range Rover Evoque. The Evoque is on display on the Land Rover stand, where visitors will also have the chance to get a first look at the rest of the new 2011 Land Rover and Range Rover model range.

Speaking at the show, John Edwards, Global Brand Director for Land Rover, said: “The Abu Dhabi International Motor Show is the ideal platform for us to showcase the new Range Rover Evoque in the Middle East. The emirate is growing in stature constantly and this launch comes at a time when we are demonstrating our cutting-edge design and technology.”

Among the eye-catching cars on display to the UAE and Middle East public at the exhibition is a number of key models from American manufacturers, including the new 2011 range of Ford Mustang models, the 2011 Camaro Convertible and Captiva from Chevrolet, the 2011 GMC Acadia Denali and the Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept.

Representing the General Motors brands, Susan Docherty, Vice President, International Operations, Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, commented: “The Middle East is a key growth market for us, and Abu Dhabi is central to our plans for the region. This is why it is essential for us to showcase our latest products here. It is also why I believe it is so important to be here in person, in order to better understand the Middle East consumer.”

The Far East is well represented in the form of Kia’s next generation Sportage and all-new Optima models, as well as the ultra-exclusive Lexus LFA supercar. The stunning Toyota FT-86G is making its Middle East debut as is Mazda’s KAZAMAI concept vehicle. Peugeot will have three new model launches, while the likes of Ferrari and Maserati will once again prove popular stop-offs for visitors.

Hyundai is using ADIMS to showcase its next-generation Accent to Middle East audiences. A Hyundai delegation has come from Korea to oversee the launch as well use knowledgeable ADIMS audiences as a source for valuable market information.

Min Soo Kim, general manager of Hyundai’s overseas promotion team, said. “The Abu Dhabi Motor Show has exceeded all our expectations - the standard is high compared to other motor shows in the region. It is also very important that the Show appeals to families, as it is essential for us to gain the interest of families and their children.”

Peter McConnell, the ADIMS 2010 Exhibition Director, commenting on the opening of the show, said: “By choosing the Abu Dhabi international Motor Show as the platform for major regional launches, these companies are clearly demonstrating the importance of the show on both a local and regional level. With so much to see and do, we are confident that visitors will appreciate this.”

While other motor shows might concentrate on just the cars, ADIMS 2010 is determined to put on a show for the whole family. Activities on offer include a purpose-built outdoor karting track, challenging off-road courses, the Red Bull pit stop game, the opportunity to drive the latest cars at the Yas Marina Circuit, home of Formula 1 in the UAE, and world record attempts.

For the second year running, Al Hilal Bank is the exclusive platinum bank sponsor for ADIMS. On finding their dream car, visitors will be able to obtain the necessary car finance, then insure and register the car via the company’s ‘Walk-in, Drive out’ initiative. They can then drive home their new car within an hour. Visitors will also have the chance to modify their dream cars using the Bank’s unique onscreen technology.

Mohamed Zaquot, Head of Personal Banking at Al Hilal Bank said: “Al Hilal Bank is proud to sponsor ADIMS for second year in a row. Our support for the show is a reiteration of our interest in supporting various international events in the UAE, while the show itself is the perfect platform for us to reach out to new customers.”

The exhibition will open its doors from 4 -10 PM from December 8-10 and from 12 noon to 10 PM on Saturday December 11th. Tickets are priced at 20 AED each, and further information on the show is available at www.admotorshow.com.
