UAE-Based Flagship Projects Declared Global Winner For Its ’Hesabi’ Mobile App At WSA Mobile Content Hosted In Abu Dhabi











"Don’t underestimate Arab skills in mobile apps and make use of these finest minds for the betterment of the global society," said a leading Mobile Apps expert.

Shadi Hasan, Managing Director, Flagship Projects was speaking while receiving the UAE mobile application ’’Hesabi - My Math’’ award at the the inaugural edition of the World Summit Award Mobile Content held in Abu Dhabi from period 6 to 8 December, 2010.

Hasan said that UAE and Middle East have given a huge push to the popularity of the mobile Apps in the Arab world but the greater credit goes to those creative developers who are defying the entire world by creating every day creative apps hailed by global mobile apps players.

He added: "Etisalat and Du are paving the way for a world in which mobile apps will be on par with cyberspace popularity by 2020."

Hesabi has been developed by Flagship Projects, a leading developer of mobile applications in the UAE and the Middle East.

Addressing a group of top delegates from more than 100 countries, including executive directors of UN agencies, and private sector heads, Hasan said: "This international award is in recognition of the ideal creative environment presented by the UAE to ICT companies. Our competence is in developing programs like Hesabi that incorporate latest global standards and add value to the application of IT to day to day life."

Hesabi, one of the first Arabic educational applications developed for iPhone, iPod, iPad, is designed to teach children from the 4-10 age group the principles of Mathematics in ways that are easy, simple and fun, incorporating elements of drawing, interactive speech, calculations and latest edutainment techniques.

The event, which was supported by the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was aimed at selecting and promoting top mobile contents and innovative applications.

"Developing such applications in the UAE is a clear proof that this country occupies an important position in the world of technology, and Flagship is proud of its achievements with the support of its creative staff," Hasan said.

The application helps children recognize numbers and the four basic Mathematical functions which are very important to improve children’s abilities. It also helps them to differentiate between right and wrong ways of numeric calculations in an extremely user friendly environment.

Flagship, the leader developer mobile applications in the Middle East, commands 30% of the professional mobile applications in the UAE market, and is poised to increase this remarkable share in the coming years.

Summit Award Mobile is a global initiative within the framework of, and in cooperation with, the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), in collaboration with UNESCO, UNIDO and UN GAID.

The WSA-mobile is the only ICT event worldwide, which reaches the mobile community in over 160 countries and is able to promote the best mobile content and innovative applications out of this huge selection.

Abu Dhabi, as the city of the award’s key partner ADSIC (Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre), will be the host for all WSA-mobile Awards until at least 2015.
