ADIBF To Celebrates 21st Anniversary In Spring 2011

The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) - the most prestigious and trusted publishing event in the Middle East will celebrate its 21st anniversary next year.

Under the patronage of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan , the ADIBF is known for showcasing quality and diverse publications and titles in numerous languages, antiquarian exhibits and e-publishing content; bringing together a range of professional panels, interactive literary debates as well as upholding international copyright standards.

Deputy Director General of ADACH and Director of the National Library and Director of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair Jumaa Al Qubaisi said "The international publishing industry, in all its forms, plays a crucial role in the cultural development and revival of knowledge in the UAE. However, this industry can only prosper by adhering to international treaties. It is for this reason that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair - which is committed to protecting intellectual property rights - is recognized as one of the safest environment for global publishing professionals to do business in the Middle East.

"We are looking forward to the 21st anniversary of the ADIBF as it promises to be bigger, even more professional and offer an ideal forum for our Arab and international participants to come together." General Manager of KITAB Monika Krauss, organiser of the Fair, said "We are delighted to be putting together a dynamic and highly rich cultural and professional programme for our 2011 show. The launch of the Illustrators’ Corner will add yet another feature to the fair and attract young illustrators and publishers. The market focus on ’Korea’ and cultural focus on ’France’ brings a unique blend of industry and cultural activities surrounding the two countries. The ADIBF is the only venue in the Middle East to provide the world’s book trade with a Rights Centre. It reflects our intention at ADIBF to place Arab literature at the heart of international publishing and to bring international literature to the Arab World." The Fair’s organisers KITAB - a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) and the Frankfurt Book Fair - are arranging a vibrant and sophisticated programme of trade and cultural events for the six-day event in March 2011, which amongst others will follow three distinct themes i.e. Korea will be in focus as the Fair’s market focus, France will be in the spotlight as the cultural focus. and Illustration and Book Design will be the professional focus of ADIBF.
