du Wins ’Telecommunications Deployment Of The Year’ At ICT Achievement Awards 2010

The award acknowledges du’s ground-breaking ’End-to-End Security Strategy’ programme.

Proving yet again its position as a leading telco in the region, du was honoured at CNME’s prestigious ICT Achievement Awards 2010 under the ‘Telecommunications deployment of the year’ category. The award, which was received by Faisal Aziz, from Technology Security Risk Management Department in du, on behalf of the company is an acknowledgement of du’s cutting-edge ‘End-to-End Security Strategy’ programme.

“Winning this prestigious award is a great achievement for du and serves to prove our positioning as a top telecom service provider in the region. Our future is continuing to be brighter, not only by strengthening our own infrastructure but also by providing our unique and innovative End-to-End Security Strategy to external clients. I am proud to say that in the three short years since we set up this ground-breaking programme, we have come to not only defend ourselves from security threats, risks and attacks, but also to offer protection to the entire region, which represents a significant milestone for the company,” commented Walid Kamal, Senior Vice President - Technology Security and Risk Management, du.

The awards are organised by CNME to recognise and honour the IT accomplishments of outstanding organisations and businesses across 20 different categories. The award event gathered more than 500 participants from various organisations and businesses.

The ‘Telecommunications deployment of the year’ award recognises projects that involve deployment across software and hardware over the last 18 months, which have improved productivity and efficiency of operations in the telecommunications sector.

In 2007, Walid Kamal, du’s Senior vice president of technology, security and risk management and an UAE National took up the challenge of starting a security initiative – ‘End to End Security’ - that would eventually amount to the largest security operating centre in the Middle East, capable of monitoring and managing technology devices not only for du but with other large enterprise clients in mind. Today, the security programme is unique in the region for bringing together whole security programmes under one banner.
