ADMA-OPCO Launches "Healthy Lifestyle Campaign"











As part of its commitment toward Healthy Employees and corporate social responsibility towards the UAE society, Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) launched a health campaign themed “Healthy Heart… Healthy You” at the company’s premises in Abu Dhabi on December 28th -29th.

The initiative is aimed at enhancing awareness of heart diseases and increasing knowledge about their prevention.

According to statistics recently released by the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD), seventy-one per cent of the young Emirati population [average age 35], have at least one cardio-vascular disease (CVD) risk factor. And reports indicate that heart diseases are considered among the leading causes of death in the country.

The opening ceremony was attended by ADMA-OPCO Senior Management. Also present were BadriaKhalfan, Deputy Human Resources & Administration Director, Ali K. Al-Shamsi, Manager Offshore Division, Bakheet Al-Ameri, Manager EH&SD SPC, and Rashid Al-Zaabi, Manager Public Relations, ADNOC. A large number of ADAM-OPCO employees attended the event as well as high delegates from HAAD and the Family Development Foundation, a public non-profit organization working in areas of ensuring social, economic and medical support for the family, as well as representatives from Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.

“People are the company’s most valuable assets. We are therefore keen to embrace proactive initiatives to ensure a vibrant health culture in all areas of our business,” said ADMA-OPCO CEO Mr. Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan, who opened the event. He went on to add: “This campaign fits within the context of our corporate social responsibility towards the UAE society and we hope we can, through such preventive initiatives, effectively contribute to reducing the mounting burdens such health challenges create.”

Omar S. Al-Shamlan, Manager Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Assurance Division, ADMA-OPCO, commented that this year’s campaign was unique because it had been expanded to cover more areas especially health awareness. “We have expanded our drive this year to take onboard more partners and open new channels for collaboration with them for the benefit of our community,” said Mr. Al-Shamlan.

A presentation by Dr. SherifBakir, a consultant cardiologist from SKMC, was conducted during the campaign on CVD-related risks and the preventive measures that should be taken with regards to such fatal diseases. The presentation was detailed and drew a positive response from the audience.

The campaign featured free medical check-ups, including BMI, vision, blood sugar, cholesterol, skin and heart tests. Most importantly, flu vaccinations were given for the first time to the company’s employees who attended the event.
