A New Report Card For Abu Dhabi School Students

Abu Dhabi Education Council issued a new “Report Card” for Abu Dhabi KG-G3 students, which includes an accumulative assessment of students’ academic performance and Approaches to Learning skills across the school year. The new Report Card, to be issued at the end of each semester, is going to replace the card previously used by schools.

Mr. Mohammad Salem Al-Dhaheri, ADEC’s Executive Director of School Operations said that the new Report Card comes as part of ADEC’s plan to develop & apply a comprehensive student assessment system in line with ADEC’s New School Model initially launched at the beginning of this school year. “In addition to measuring student academic performance, the new Report Card includes also details on assessment of student’s Approaches to Learning, which are divided into 5 areas: social, emotional, attitudinal, creative & resourceful and technological skills”, added Mr. Al Dhaheri.

Al-Dhaheri indicated that the new Card gives clear and objective assessment of student academic and behavioral performance & progress and makes it easier to follow up student achievements when moving from one school to another. It also helps parents get involved with the schools to support their children’s capabilities and improve their performance. “The new expanded assessment of student performance & skills enables educators as well as stakeholders to identify points of strengths & weaknesses and helps them develop the appropriate programs aiming to improve the educational, behavioral and learning outcomes”, Al Dhaheri clarified.

The new Card also includes assessment of activities subjects, such as IT, art, music and Health & PE. It also contains the total days of student attendance and absence throughout the year.
