Etihad Appoints New Country Manager For Egypt











Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has appointed Magdi Labib as Country Manager for Egypt, with responsibility for Etihad commercial operations throughout the country.

Magdi has more than 21 years experience in the aviation industry in the Middle East and UK, and has held the position of Country Manager in Kuwait for Etihad Airways since April 2006.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “This appointment is yet another reflection of our ambitious growth plans for Egypt. Magdi’s extensive commercial experience in the Middle Eastern aviation sector will prove invaluable in his new role, and we look forward to welcoming him to our team in Egypt.”

Magdi joined Etihad in February 2005 and moved to Kuwait to inaugurate the airline’s daily operation in July 2006.

Prior to that Magdi worked for British Airways, where he was responsible for commercial activities in the Central Province in Saudi Arabia from 1999 until 2001. He also worked for the airline as Regional Business Executive Africa and the Middle East based in London from 1997 until 1999.

Etihad commenced operations to Egypt in November 2004 and now operates 14 services per week from Cairo to Abu Dhabi. In July 2010, Etihad commenced operations in Alexandria and it currently operates four services per week between Burj Al Arab airport and Abu Dhabi.
