Red Bull Driver Nasser Al-Attiyah Wins 2011 Hail Rally Championship

Realizing the expectations of all desert rally experts who had already forecasted that Nasser Al-Attiyah will win the first position while other drivers will have to compete for the second position, Red Bull champion the Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah has been crowned for the second time as Hail Rally 2011 champion, a title he won for the first time in 2008. Thus, Al-Attiyah has confiremd that if he happens to be at the heart of Nufud desert, gold will be his own alone.

Red Bull driver Nasser Al-Attiyah dominated the race from the very beginning as he had grabbed the first position in the demonstration stage held near Al-Mughwah park where he crossed the 6.8 kilometer leg in his Volkswagen Touareg car in 4.51.2 minutes ahead of Toyota Team diver Saleh Al-Saleh of Sauid Arabia who posted 5.29.6 minutes time.

On the second day, known as Nufud Hail challenge, Al-Attiyah was the first to take off from the start point located at “Jubbah” village 100 kilometers far from Hail city.

Nasser Al-Attiyah dazzled the people of Hail city with his skillful driving especially at the difficult and treacherous curbs which are considered by drivers as the most dangerous and difficult parts of the race after climbing the sand dunes which Al-Attiyah handled very easily and skillfully stirring more and more excitement for the rally local spectators who had grown up in the heart of Nufud Hail desert and know very well how difficult it is to survive the hazards of this risky desert where even if you manage to escape its sharp jaws, you will have at least some scratches left. However, Al-Attiyah proved that he was capable of taming the wild sands and hills which seemed to him like a red carpet all along the way from the start point to the finish line. A hard task which he handled employing only the weapons he can skillfully use, that is, fast driving and phenomenal control of the car even in the hardest conditions. Thus he was the first to reach the finish line of the second stage with a significant time difference ahead of all other racers.

On the third and final day of the rally, Al-Attiyah, who accepts no less than gold, kicked off with full confidence as if he was driving directly to the podium. He stuck to the strategy of staying in the first position all the time and to take risks sometimes by driving at incredible speed whenever he could, and at reasonable calculated speed at other times, until he reached the finish line early seizing the top position’s gold.

Commenting on this glorious victory, Red Bull driver Nasser Al-Attiyah said: “ Thanks to all people involved in organizing the successful Hail Rally for their commendable efforts to make it look so prestigious. He added that the rally stages have improved a great deal compared to 2008 rally in which he had won the first position. He concluded his statement by presenting his victory to everybody in the race expressing his wish that Hail Rally will rank in the future among the top world rally championships.

Thus, 2011 has been the year-of-gold for a champion of gold who had scored recently an important victory for all Arabs at Dakar International Rally, his old dream that has turned into reality.
