Etihad Appoints New Country Manager In Iran

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has appointed Mr Qutiaba Zahde to the position of Country Manager in Iran, responsible for overseeing the airline’s commercial activities and sales growth in the Iranian market.

Mr Zahde takes over from Mr Nabil Matarweh who has taken on the role of Country Manager in Kuwait for the airline.

He has more than 25 years’ airline experience, which has included positions with Swiss International Air Lines and Kuwait Airways, and has spent more than 10 years in the Arabian Gulf region.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Qutiaba to Etihad Airways and know he will make a significant contribution to Etihad’s presence in this market. Iran is an important strategic destination and Etihad has enjoyed incredible growth in this market recently, particularly with flights connecting to a growing number of destinations in our global route network.”

Etihad’s three weekly services between Abu Dhabi and Tehran offer air travellers convenient onward connections to a number of key destinations across the airline’s global network, including the GCC, Australia, China, Japan, the Indian Subcontinent, Europe and North American destinations.

The airline started operations to the Persian capital Tehran in January 2007. Etihad operates an Airbus A320 aircraft on the Abu Dhabi-Tehran route, configured to carry 140 passengers.
