Bee’ah And Expo Centre Sharjah Tie-up To Bring Green Innovations To Region

Green Middle East to be held from 15 to 17 October at Expo Centre Sharjah

Aiming to introduce innovations in areas of solid waste management, sewage & waste water treatment, green buildings, air pollution and alternative energy, Bee’ah, in association with Expo Centre Sharjah, will host the second edition of Green Middle East exhibition and conference from 15th to 17th October 2012.

This is for the second time in a row that Bee’ah, the region’s integrated environment and waste management company, is partnering with Expo Centre Sharjah to promote the premier environmental management and technology exhibition and conference.

The association was announced jointly by Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, CEO, Bee’ah, and Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Director-General, Expo Centre Sharjah on Wednesday.

“Green Middle East offers a platform for top industry organizations to exchange their businesses and technologies within the environment sustainability industry. We are proud to take host the exhibition for the second year in a row, and look forward to announce major milestones in waste management and recycling. It is our commitment to continuously establish effective environmental solutions and ongoing programmes that will uphold the UAE as a model within our region that truly takes the environment in its own hands to ensure its sustainability and protection, said Mr. Al Huraimel”

“Sharjah is home to some of the largest facilities and programmes aiming to protect the environment and our natural surroundings. The issue of environmental sustainability has never been more pressing and a show like the Green Middle East will be the right platform to introduce innovations and solutions to environmental challenges, including methods for creating renewable energy, reducing pollution, recycling, sustainable living, green buildings and eco-businesses, within the Middle Eastern region. We received great feedback from the large pool of exhibitors we had in the first year, and look forward to receiving an even more successful turnout this year.” said Mr. Midfa.

“Large amounts of complex wastes are generated daily by individuals, businesses and agriculture. These issues require that waste be handled using environmentally sound and economically sustainable methods. A show like the Green Middle East will be the right platform to introduce solutions to environmental problems, ways to green our world by saving energy, reducing pollution, recycling, healthy living, green buildings and eco-businesses. The expertise of Bee’ah will be of great value to the show,” said Mr. Midfa.

The GCC region is one of the world’s largest per capita producers of waste. They produce nearly 80 million tonnes of waste annually. In the UAE, Abu Dhabi itself produces about 4.7 million tonnes of waste a year, which could increase to more than 30 million tonnes by 2030 if current production rates continue. In Sharjah, a whopping 2.5 million kg of waste is produced daily by about 1.1 million inhabitants. According to a Bee’ah study, the average daily production of waste per person is between 2.5 kg and 2.7 kg.

“The volume of waste generation is huge, and the UAE, being a high-volume producer of waste, calls for new technology, methods and equipment that will help better manage waste,” said Mr. Midfa

Green Middle East will feature individual segments such as Solid Waste, Waste Water, Air Pollution, Scrap Metal, Alternative Energy and Green Building, apart from seminars and workshops.

It will showcase the technology, products and services that go into environment conservation and protection, offering participants a significant platform to access the region’s multi-million dollar spending in environmental protection.
