Dubai Customs selected 10 initiatives and CSR programs to implement during the Year of Giving 2017.
These 10 initiatives were born out of more than 160 ideas submitted during the brainstorming sessions that took place internally on 29 and 30 January, and involved different departments and sections at Dubai Customs.
The year of Giving, decreed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is a continuation of the giving and selflessness efforts initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum (may God have mercy upon them), said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs.
“Giving is an inherent value and a daily practice amongst the Emiratis, and the UAE philanthropic initiatives led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses, Members of the UAE Supreme Council are recognized worldwide and an example to follow” Musabih added.
Following the leadership’s directives and to show its social responsibility commitment, Dubai Customs organized brainstorming sessions that involved a number of internal departments. A number of ideas about how best to serve the community during the Year of Giving were put on the table and discussed, Musabih explained.
Khalil Saqr, Director of Corporate Communication Department said:
“The 10 selected initiatives represent our commitment towards the local community. The UAE community is no stranger to giving and selflessness, and by choosing these ten initiatives we hope to reflect this attitude and be able to give back to our community, and serve our clients in the best possible way”.
The ten initiatives include “Al Dunia Bikhair (Life is still good)” which is a social solidarity fund that will be set up by Dubai Customs to support the employees who might experience difficult times. “Nahno Wayyak (We are with you) is another initiative that will target expatriate laborers, plus other programs and initiatives that will target the needy and the elderly.
