DEWA presents latest sustainable energy initiatives and projects at World Governments Summit 2017

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will highlight its latest projects and initiatives in sustainable energy to enhance its electricity and water networks in Dubai, during the 5th World Government Summit, which is under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. 

DEWA will be participating in the World Government Summit 2017 as Sustainable Energy Partner. The summit’s theme is theme ‘Shaping Future Governments.’ HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, will participate in a discussion, where he will focus on innovative projects launched to produce electricity and water services, while improving efficiency.

“DEWA’s participation in the World Government Summit supports its efforts to implement the directives of the wise leadership, led by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The UAE’s World Government Summit has become an important international platform that strengthens the role of future governments, by promoting services based on innovation, Research and Development (R&D), exchanging expertise, and becoming more knowledgeable about the latest technologies and practices, to ensure a sustainable future,” said Al Tayer.

“We are keen to share our experiences about exploring the future of energy and disruptive technologies, while developing long-term plans to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, during one of the largest government summits in the world.

The summit will gather government officials, prominent figures, decision makers, and international experts, to exchange knowledge and experiences in various scientific, humanitarian, and practical fields,” added Al Tayer 
“DEWA realised that analysing and developing long-term strategic plans to identify future challenges and opportunities is vital to ensuring the success of future governments, enhancing services, and achieving happiness for individuals and the community. DEWA strives to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix to 75% by 2050. The strategy also aims to transform Dubai into an international hub for clean energy and green economy. DEWA is also implementing the Demand Side Management Strategy to reduce electricity and water consumption by 30% by 2030,” continued Al Tayer.

“At the World Government Summit 2017, we will highlight a number of our key initiatives and programmes that we are implementing to contribute to providing world-class electricity and water services. DEWA has achieved remarkable results as part of its efforts to improve electricity and water infrastructure, and works to positively impact the economy and the environment, to reduce the carbon footprint and ensure the sustainability of natural resources. This will help to achieve the strategic goals of the UAE,” said Al Tayer.

“We are pleased to be participating in the World Government Summit, and are confident that it will contribute to international efforts to foresee future challenges and opportunities, and allow for the development of strategic plans that meet the requirements of the 21st century. We are committed to ensuring sustainable development locally and internationally,” concluded Al Tayer.

World Governments Summit 2017 the largest summit of its kind, and will host 150 prominent speakers with 114 panel discussions. Over 4,000 attendees, including senior government officials, experts and decision makers from all over the world, will take part.
