New Deputy Festival Director of Emirates Airline Festival of Literature Announced

The Emirates Literature Foundation has today announced that Ibrahim Khadim will be taking on the mantle of Deputy Festival Director of the Emirates Airline Festival Literature in addition to his role as Business Development Director of the Emirates Literature Foundation. Khadim, who joined the Foundation in 2016, has a long professional history in the publishing, translation and literature industries He brings these strengths to his position as Deputy Director at the region’s largest international literary festival. 

Khadim was previously Director of the Translation and Publishing Department at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF), and worked on many programmes and cultural initiatives including being a part of the Arab Strategy Forum as well as the Book Fair Exhibition Committee. 

He also headed the Government Center of Excellence at e-TQM College (now Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University) and was head of Public Relations at Emirates Post. Additionally, he held the post of Chief Editor of the summer magazine (Future Arms) for 3 years from 1999.

Isobel Abulhoul, OBE, CEO and Trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation and Director of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, said of Khadim, ‘His enthusiasm and passion for the annual Festival has been infectious and it has really helped in increasing the number of Arab World writers attending, in particular, those from the UAE. This has been a massive contribution to the diversity of the programme and the best-ever author line up we have had at the Festival. We are looking forward to him taking on a central role at the 2017 Festival and becoming an integral part of Festivals to come.’

The ninth Emirates Airline Festival of Literature will be held from 3-11 March, 2017 at the InterContinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City.
