Dubai Customs received a delegation of Japanese licensing experts recently. Yousef Ozair, Director of Intellectual Property Rights Department (IPR) and Mohammed bin Nasser, Manager of Follow-up and Process Section received the delegation which was headed by Mr Motohero Uno, Senior Expert Manager, GS Yuasa International Ltd., and comprised a number of intellectual property managers at different Japanese companies.
Ozair briefed the Japanese delegates with Dubai Customs’ rich experience in protecting intellectual property rights.
The IPR Department was established in 2005 and follows the best international standards.
“We continually develop the skills of our employees to best protect intellectual property rights. We organize workshops and invite brand owners who explain the way their brands are violated and how best to tackle this.
“Dubai Customs also coordinates with other customs administrations in the GCC under the unified customs law. We are very interested in cooperating with the Japanese brand owners to better tackle counterfeiting. This comes within Dubai Customs efforts to facilitate trade and invite more investments” he added.
