Dubai Chamber workshop focuses on building an engaging work culture in the community sector

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Centre for Responsible Business’s ENGAGE Dubai programme in partnership with du organised a workshop for the Community Members on driving an engaging and performing organization in the community sector recently at the Chamber head office. 

This fourth workshop in the series following the previous ones on Social Media, Strategic Communication and PR, and Brand protection in the community sector focused on knowledge building for the community organizations.  

The workshop was conducted by Ramakrishna Krovvidi, Senior Vice- President, Organisation Development & Business Excellence,  du, who discussed the existing HR frameworks and processes including recruitment, administration, trainings, recognitions, performance management and key human capital challenges facing the organizations and recommended potential solutions to the community organizations based on learnings from the corporate world.  

Dr. Belaid Rettab, Senior Director, Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development Sector, Dubai Chamber, said: “To succeed and create a high performing organisation, a compelling vision is a must as this vision along with core values of the founders play a crucial role in building an engaging work culture which in-turn drives performance. The right organisation culture and people frameworks, would ensure attraction, retention and performance of human capital.

“Therefore, this interactive workshop facilitated the participants from the community sector to have a deeper understanding of the vision, mission, core values of their organization and its importance in the long run,” he said.

Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: “We strongly believe that happy employees result in better organisations and we realize the value of each one of our employees. Our colleagues at du share the idea of giving back to the community, they enthusiastically participate in volunteering activities and sharing industry best practices with our community partners. We hope to continue our engagement with the Dubai Chamber to build the capacity of community organisations in the UAE.”

The ENGAGE Dubai programme, which has 115 corporate members and 40 community partners, connects businesses to community partners to get their support on different community projects. The main objective of ENGAGE Dubai programme is to stimulate corporate involvement in community development through employee volunteering. 

ENGAGE Dubai organises annual Give & Gain Day for last five years, last year 750 volunteers from 23 companies participated in community projects organised by 20 community partners supporting more than 1,200 beneficiaries all across UAE.

Launched in 2008 by the Centre for Responsible Business, ENGAGE Dubai is part of an international network of businesses and community organisations that collaborate to support the development of healthy and sustainable communities through increasing the quality and quantity of employee involvement and volunteering in their local communities. The international ENGAGE Program, managed by Business in the Community (BITC) in the UK, operates in major cities including Paris, Frankfurt, Istanbul, and Hong Kong.
