The Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) is taking part in the 36th edition of Gitex 2016, being held at Dubai World Trade Centre on October 16-20, 2016. “Delivering the Future” is the motto of the PCFC’s Gitex participation this year.
The PCFC stand, located within the Dubai Smart Government pavilion at Sheikh Saeed Hall 3, Stands No. S2-A21 and S3-A21, is displaying as many as 41 smart services and solutions offered by the six entities under PCFC; namely, Dubai Customs, DP World, Jebel Ali Free Zone – Jafza, Dubai Maritime City Authority, Department of Planning & Development – Trakhees, and Dubai Trade.
Dubai Customs
Dubai Customs is expected to mark an exceptional participation at the largest technology exchange and marketplace for Middle East & Africa. Its wide array of offerings includes the Authorized Economic Operator Program; a voluntary program based on partnership between Customs and trade to recognize traders as trusted and provide them with exclusive benefits, Smart Inspection Lab; a vehicle equipped with a full range of inspection devices to provide 24/7 support services to Customs centers, Bags Smart Customs Inspection System, Smart Inspection Glasses, Smart Virtual Agent, Endangered Species Exhibition and Smart Workspace.
DP World
Robots performing various functions are the highlight of DP World’s participation in Gitex. A smart robotic arm that responds to the users’ commands and retrieves items like spare parts from warehouse shelves is on display, as well as a smart robotic arm that is able to plug and unplug the electric socket in reefer containers. DP World’s 360-degree Virtual Reality Video is being played at their stand to give the viewers a fully immersive live environment impact and the feel of being in the port, showcasing DP World’s massive operations and key facilities. Quay Crane Commander Game is sure to entertain visitors, who are put in the operating seat of one of the world’s biggest cranes.
Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza)
Jebel Ali Free Zone has developed a wide host of smart solutions - showcased at Gitex - that ensure smoother work flow. They include: Jafza Smart Gates; an Automatic Plate Recognition System (APRS), long-range card reader with access control and high definition CCTV to register the vehicles passing through while creating a comprehensive database via logging the entry and exit of vehicles to the Free Zone, and Energy Saving Technology; one of the best technologies to enhance energy efficiency will be implement in a major renewable energy project with the installation of photovoltaic solar panels on buildings and parking sheds to generate electricity. Other offerings by Jafza include Mawardi Employee Geo Location Attendance System, Jafza Mobile App, iJafza and Jafza Sites Monitoring with Drones
Department of Planning and Development – Trakhees
NOC Services, Commercial Permits, Commercial Licensing Services, Government Visa Services, OFC/NAV Services, EHS Construction Permit Services, Civil Engineering Accreditation Services, Civil Engineering Permit Services, Finance Services and more are at the heart of Tralhees’s participation in Gitex.
Dubai Maritime City Authority
Dubai Maritime City Authority is showcasing an online examination mobile application; to evaluate the competency of clients who wish to apply for marine craft driving license, Smart Marine Inspector Mobile Application; to provide DMCA’s inspectors with a mobile-enabled channel to conduct the inspection job online with online checklist and results, Dubai Maritime Intelligence, Smart Client Mobile Application and Smart Maritime Weather.
Dubai Trade
Dubai Trade has two new services on display: Land Transportation Management System; a new reliable service that enables merchants and their appointed agents to easily source land transportation services on the website or the mobile app, and Warehouse Booking System; a new innovative platform connecting warehouse owners and warehousing service providers with customers seeking warehouse spaces for their cargo.
The PCFC works as per a clear strategy aimed at the implementation of the smart government objectives as announced by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the prompt transformation to smart government for Dubai to become the smartest and most innovative city in the world.
