Crown Prince of Dubai and General Supervisor of Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today launched the ‘My Salaam’ portal and mobile app in Dubai on the sidelines of the Global Islamic Economy Summit (GIES) 2016.
In a bid to further digitise the dynamic sectors spanning the Islamic economy, the My Salaam portal and mobile app complement the B2B platform Salaam Gateway launched by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the second edition of GIES in 2015.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said: “The My Salaam App is an innovative and progressive initiative that is fully aligned with the digital age we live in. Through this launch, we aspire to empower Islamic economy businesses as well as consumers with powerful tools to live more efficiently, abundantly, and wisely – even while staying in tune with the times and enjoying the conveniences of our digital and mobile age.”
The launch of the My Salaam app comes at a time when very few, if any digital platforms seamlessly combine trending modest fashion stories with providing a marketplace outlet for Islamic products and services.
Salaam Gateway is a B2B platform providing insights, reports and an international company database for all industries within the Islamic economy space. Anticipating the growth in the industry and with a focus on expanding the scope of this digital platform, Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) in partnership with Thomson Reuters, launched My Salaam - a B2C platform that aims to further enhance and grow the Islamic economy by connecting Islamic economy businesses to the 1.7 billion Muslim consumers worldwide and empowering them with powerful content and tools.
My Salaam covers three main aspects of the Muslim B2C space enabling users to
1- Enjoy lifestyle content including stories, videos, photo galleries and quizzes on style, money, spirituality, travel, culture, health and technology, among other categories .
2- Browse through latest trends in modest fashion, halal pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, as well as Islamic apps across its marketing platform.
3- Strengthen their Islamic roots through leveraging tools such as Zakat Calculator, Prayer Times, and Hijri Calendar and also track and log their activities.
For his part, His Excellency Essa Kazim The Secretary General of Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, said: “With the launch of the My Salaam portal and mobile app we are confident that Dubai is advancing steadily towards establishing itself as a capital for the Islamic economy to articulate the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. While Salaam Gateway connects businesses to businesses and professionals around the globe, My Salaam brings this initiative full circle and convenes Muslim consumers, the Umma, and Islamic businesses worldwide on one platform.”
