Wetex 2016 kicks off

Yesterday marked the launch of the 18th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX). WETEX is organised by DEWA, in adherence with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA, under the theme ‘At the forefront of sustainability.’

WETEX 2016 is sponsored by more than 60 local and international companies. These include the titanium sponsors who are Siemens (Germany) ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) and Sustainable City (Dubai), in addition to 12 strategic sponsors, and 11 platinum sponsors. As a Titanium sponsor, ACWA Power is displaying its most important major projects including the Shuaa Energy project, which is now under construction, and is part of the second phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is operated by DEWA. The project will produce 200 megawatts (MW) of solar energy by April 2017. ACWA Power will also highlight the launch of the first phase of the Hassyan clean coal power plant, which will generate 2,400MW.
