Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, has recently received the ISO 20000:2011. The certification is awarded to organizations for meeting the requirements in establishing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving its ICT service management system and adopting effective management methods throughout the high-tech park.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, received the ISO certification from Lloyds Registered Quality Assurance (LRQA) representative in the presence of Dr Mohammed Alzarooni, Vice Chairman and CEO of DSOA, alongside a number of senior DSOA officials.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed said: “The ISO certification is an addition to DSOA’s record of achievements since 2004. Since then, Dubai Silicon Oasis has been committed to contribute to the vision of our wise leadership of maintaining highest quality services across all areas and transforming Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world.”
He added: “By implementing the latest ICT systems into our services and building an infrastructure up to par with the highest global standards, Dubai Silicon Oasis has become the preferred destination for a number of prominent technology companies. We remain relentless in our pursuit of offering DSO’s residents, business partners and visitors all the benefits possible.”
On his part, Dr Mohammed Alzarooni said: “We are proud to be granted this ISO certification by Lloyds, the qualified body for such assessments. This milestone event for Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority is a declaration of our success in comprehensively identifying opportunities for development. This confirms the solidity of the pillars which DSOA was established on, and affirms our ability to raise the bar of achievement. We are keen to continue fulfilling the requirements for building a modern smart city that ensures the comfort and safety of the UAE nationals, expats and visitors.”
The evaluation that led DSOA to attaining the ISO 20000:2011 certificate was based on the ICT services that DSOA offers to its business partners, which reflects the quality of the integrated ICT system at the high tech park. It also indicates the best practices and solutions implemented within, guaranteeing uninterrupted business, which further attracts investors and entrepreneurs to base their operations at DSO.
DSOA had recently entered a number of strategic partnerships that will contribute to its transformation into a smart city, such as: installing the first Smart Street Solution in the Middle East with Huawei; establishing the Intel IoT Ignition lab for the Middle East and North Africa at the Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Centre, wholly owned by DSOA and the largest facility of its kind in the region. Additionally, DSOA has signed various MoUs with specialized tech firms, such as Berytech, the pioneering Lebanon-based start-ups business development centre, with the aim of supporting and developing technology start-ups in the region.
DSO is a wholly-owned entity of the government of Dubai that operates as a free zone technology park for large enterprises, medium and small companies looking to set up their offices in Dubai.
