Attorney General of Dubai His Excellency Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan said that Dubai Public Prosecution will seek capital punishment for the man accused of murdering the Jordanian boy, Obaida.
The Attorney General said that the Public Prosecution completed investigations for the case in less than two weeks, and will recommend that the severest punishment be awarded, given the gravity of the crime.
Al Humaidan said that the investigation team heard the testimony of the child’s father, his uncle and members of the law enforcement team that worked on the case, and reviewed the evidence that led to the arrest of the suspect.
His Excellency said that the Public Prosecution will seek the death penalty for the accused on the basis of his detailed confession, the testimony of witnesses, criminal evidence and forensic reports. The defendant is accused of kidnapping, sexually assaulting and murdering the boy, as well as drinking alcohol and driving under its influence.
The Attorney General of Dubai praised the efforts of the General Department of Criminal Investigations in solving the case.
