RTA leadership team mulls future innovation trends

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has chaired a meeting of RTA Senior Leadership Team comprising CEOs, Directors and Deputy Directors. The meeting discussed future trends of innovation and how to shape them.

Al Tayer started of the meeting with stressing the importance of preparing & planning, right from now through digesting the outcomes of the past, identifying deliverables of the present, and anticipating the trends of the future. In the light of these variables, innovative initiatives have to be developed with the aim of supporting service excellence and addressing all customer needs. Changes are taking place faster than we used to, and organizations are therefore required to shape the future and act accordingly.

“RTA is keen on keeping abreast of fast changes in order to take a forward position can be achieved through introducing and adopting excellent ideas, and addressing future needs in project plans, especially in the field of roads and infrastructure. RTA has embarked on the trial run of the first self-driving vehicle in Dubai, and start to chart out plans for the next 15 years. It had also held an innovation lab entitled (RTA Path to 2030), which concluded to releasing a host of future initiatives & projects which had been studied and programmed in a specific time chart. RTA has also endorsed a plan for corporate researches, and allocated a budget to carry them over seven years,” said Al Tayer.

The meeting discussed innovation trends in RTA business fields in a visual presentation made by Trend Watching; a company specialized in screening innovation trends & patters around the globe through a network of more than 3000 experts & specialists engaged in examining innovative initiatives & ideas. Such initiatives have to be linked in order to set global trends for the benefit of governments & businesses in assessing the service improvement strategy, and identifying the type of products that can be developed to enhance customers’ service.

The Company stated that key innovation areas identified throughout the globe were focused on administrative practices, upgrading of business models, improving customer’s experience as well as marketing, advertising and public relations. The presentation identified key eight trendsetters of innovation during this year, which can set the platform for RTA’s innovative initiatives & project to be released in the near future.

The Company also reviewed the findings of the workshop it had recently held, which was attended by a team of 36 CEOs, directors and specialists. The workshop concluded to identifying four innovative concepts matching to the global trends of integrated services, smart pricing of services, smart benefits and learning during transit time. The meeting also discussed RTA plan for data management under Dubai Data initiative launched by the Government with the aim of availing the opportunity to read and benefit from the general data of the Dubai public entities in a bid to support the improvement of government service, and develop new products for achieving people happiness. An array of ideas were screened covering the development of new marine transit means, offering a new service relating to the taxi system targeting fixed income groups, and mulling a smart procedure for carrying out RTA’s polls with the aim of beefing up the number of respondents.
