The seminar was attended by a high level economic and government delegation headed by H.E. Rastislav Chovanec, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber, H.E. Dusan Horniak, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the UAE, Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, and over 20 business representatives from Slovakia and Dubai.
In his speech during the Forum, H.E. Al Ghurair, emphasised on the importance of strengthening bilateral investment relations between Dubai and Slovakia adding that on its part, the Chamber is committed to provide all possible facilities to Slovak investors looking to invest in Dubai as businesses from both the sides share the common desire to strengthen economic and trade cooperation and to take them to the next level.
H.E. Al Ghurair said: “Dubai Chamber seeks to consolidate economic cooperation with Slovakia, which is one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturing centres and is well-known for its extensive experience in the field of ICT which can be utilised in the field of security for electronic banking and smart services in Dubai.”
The Chairman of Dubai Chamber further stressed on the importance of coordinating efforts to work jointly in the areas of common interests while highlighting promising investment opportunities for Dubai companies in Slovakia and their counterparts in Dubai, especially in the areas of trade, health tourism, industry and information technology.
H.E. Al Ghurair called upon Slovak companies to make Dubai their base for expansion into the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia as the emirate has a well-diversified and strong economy, built on solid foundations of creativity, knowledge and innovation, adding that its investment environment is marked by stability, modern infrastructure, effective economic policy and modern economic legislations.
He further stressed that currently, there are four Slovak companies among Dubai Chamber members while Slovakia’s trade relations with Dubai have strengthened with time and Slovakia was Dubai’s 89th trading partner in 2015, up from 93 in 2014. Bilateral trade reached AED 450 million in the first half of 2015 while in 2014, bilateral trade amounted to AED 955 million up by 23% from 2013, adding that this forum is an opportunity to increase the trade volume between the two sides in the coming years.
On his part, H.E. Rastislav Chovanec, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, informed that this delegation visit leads to the start of a new chapter in the cooperation ties of the two countries which already have frequent high profile delegation exchanges leading to a larger cooperation this time.
He informed about the UAE businessmen’s visit to the annual Slovak Matchmaking Fair organised by SARIO last November with the participation of over 200 companies and called upon UAE businesses to attend future events which offer an ideal platform for global businesses to meet and find new partners and suitable projects for their line of business.
This seminar follows last year’s Dubai Chamber organised UAE trade mission to the Slovak Republic, headed by H.E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, including 20 officials and business leaders who discussed investment opportunities with their Slovak counterparts while promoting the UAE’s competitive business environment in general and that of Dubai in particular.
