During the meeting attended by several CEOs of RTA and members of the delegation accompanying the British Minister, the two parties discussed means of boosting cooperation and sharing expertise between RTA and its counterpart in the UK. They also reviewed a variety of public transport projects & systems the RTA intends to undertake in future.
At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed the British Minister and hailed the partnership & cooperation relationships between RTA and British entities operating in the field of roads and transportation.
Al Tayer briefed the British delegation on the key projects the RTA is considering to implement in future in order to upgrade the infrastructure of roads and transit systems, including the construction and operation of rail projects costing billions of dirhams. Examples of these projects include Route 2020 for the extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro to the Expo 2020 site, extension of the Green Line of the Dubai Metro, Phase II of the Dubai Tram, and several other projects offering great opportunities for businesses to bid for projects released by the RTA.
The British State Minister for Transport Affairs expressed her pleasure over the involvement of British entities and companies in the construction of RTA’s projects, hoping for more cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the interest of both parties.
