Mohammed Al Marri hails Dubai Customs’ role in border control

Major General Al Marri made these remarks upon touring Dubai Customs recently established and revamped first-rate facilities at Dubai International Airport (DXB)  Terminals 1 and 3,  Which included, CCTV Operation Centers, Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) Customs Command and Control Centers and the fresh DC staff rest amenities. He was accompanied by HE Sultan bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs, Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Dubai Customs Director, Mr. Ahmed bin Lahej, Director of Passenger Operations at Dubai Customs, along  with Khaled Ahmed, Senior Manager, Airport Terminal 1 Customs Center, Walid Essa bin Darwich, Director, Al Maktoum Air Customs Centres, and inspection managers at the DC Passenger Operations. 

Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai), expressed his admiration for DC’s resourcefulness and deployment of the state-of-the-art technologies, besides its up-to-the-minute customs processes and procedures in handling passengers and luggage. Al Marri also Dubai Customs attested efficiency in expediting passengers’ movement, while fortifying its security efforts in protecting the country from any smuggling attempts.

“Our established level of cooperation and coordination between GDRFA-Dubai and Dubai Customs for the best interest of achieving the UAE government goals in excellence and global pioneerism should  be viewed as an exemplary benchmark for  all peer government entities,” Al Marri said. 

He also added, “The witnessed advancements of Dubai Customs facilities’ at DXB are a source of pride. They stand a rock-solid evidence of Dubai Customs accumulated efforts, prudent planning and farsighted vision in line the UAE’s strategic goals.” 

Al Marri also congratulated Their Excellencies Sultan bin Sulayem and Ahmed Mahboob Musabih on the global stature Dubai Customs had acclaimed in the field of Customs work. 

 “During my visit today, I had the chance to meet Dubai Customs inspectors at their work stations and enjoyed a hands-on experience observing their advanced work proficiency and agility. This impressive performance is a perceptible evidence of their uppermost training and excellence,” he said.

The field visit at Dubai International Airport kicked off at Terminal 3 where Al Marri toured the internal equipment section. Khalifa bin Shahin, Dubai Customs T3 Inspection Manager, presented an on-site brief on the advanced luggage screening and tracking technologies, as well as  the region’s first of its kind BHS Command and Control Customs Center and the CCTV Operation Center. 

At the passengers T1, the high-profile visitors observed work procedures at the Operations Center and viewed the newly established BHS mirroring the same in T3 for the aim of increasing security efficiency and accommodating the growing numbers of international flights.  Afterwards. Al Marri toured the especially designed rest amenities of DC inspectors, and watched a video highlighting DC inspectors vigilance and optimization of modern technologies. 

At  the end of the field tour, HE Sultan bin Sulayem extended his appreciation to the Director General of GDRFA-Dubai, Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, for the high level of operational synergy between GDRFA-Dubai and Dubai Customs at all ports across Dubai, as well as for his personal keenness to get a field touch-upon experience exploring DC’s recent facilities.
