Dubai Customs has unveiled two initiatives towards enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and the elderly, offering them Customs services at remarkable convenience.
Under the first initiative, ‘drive-thru service’, a Dubai Customs employee will serve them directly at their vehicles in the visited Customs centre’s parking area. The second initiative, named “At Your Service”, consists of allocating a vehicle fully equipped to provide Customs services to the disabled and elderly at their own places.
The two initiatives are in line with Dubai Customs’ commitment to being the friendliest government entity for the disabled. And as such, Dubai Customs pays utmost attention to empowering and enabling the disabled, by providing them with a differently-abled friendly environment and facilities, such as designated parking spaces and disability access to premises.
The new introductions go along with the ‘My community... a city for everyone’ initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, which aims at maximising the participation and inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the community and making Dubai the world’s friendliest city for the disabled by 2020.
“Dubai Customs has a longstanding commitment to supporting the disabled as per the wise leadership’s instructions to integrate differently-abled people in society,” said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs.
“To make these special elements of our community as happier as possible, we provide top of the range onsite facilities, service delivery modes, and dedicated staff to make life easier for them while they are being offered our services across different Customs centers in Dubai,” he added.
