UAE Drones for Good Award and UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good organise workshops to instill innovation capabilities in students

Saif Al Aleeli, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation and Coordinator General of the UAE Drones for Good Award and UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good, said:  “As a leading centre for innovation, the UAE offers the most effective platforms to employ the best practices in drones and robotics technology to improve the life of people. The workshops by The Assembly will contribute to the exchange of experiences and knowledge in these sectors and help enhance awareness about their importance in the efficient delivery of services in the coming years.”

The workshops will be led by experts in the field, including Danny Munnerley, Manager of innovation and Development in Learning at the Higher Colleges of Technology;  David Gallacher, Assistant Professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Zayed University; Dr. Abdulla Ismail, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Assistant to the President at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Dubai; and Prashant PK Gulati, the founder of The Assembly.

During the three days of the award event, six workshops will be held – two per day, each accommodating up to 25 students. The workshops on the first day are focused on drones technology while the second day discussions will be on the robotics sector.

“We are happy to be part of such distinguished and high-profile international events as the UAE Drones for Good Award and the UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good, which represent the UAE’s futuristic vision to apply next generation technologies for the good of humanity. The interactive workshops will get the young students connected to what is happening at the awards event and introduce them to the latest techniques in drones and robotics. These workshops will provide young minds the opportunities to develop their own approaches for the use of these technologies to improve quality of life,” said Prashant PK Gulati, founder of The Assembly.

The Assembly works towards empowering the community to share knowledge, increase awareness and make solutions around exponential technologies to build a smarter city. It provides real solutions to the major challenges faced by smart communities by bringing all stakeholders together, aiding technology access and community outreach.

The UAE Drones for Good Award aims to harness the technology of unmanned aircraft to improve the lives of people, whether in the UAE or anywhere in the world. It aims to design a legislative structure to provide services through advanced technology such as unmanned aircraft in the areas of serving humanity.
The ‘UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good’ was launched during the third Government Summit in February 2015, as one of the initiatives of International Council on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, which was formed in collaboration with the World Economic Forum during Global Agenda Council hosted by the UAE Government last year.
