Sports, Arts, Science And Entertainment Contests And Performance Liven Up The Weekend
Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has expanded its ‘Summer in Abu Dhabi’ family carnival, which continues its run across six packed halls at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) into two of the UAE capital’s leading shopping malls staging a series of sports, arts, science and entertainment contests and performances each weekend until August 8.
The fun kicks off this weekend at Al Wahda Mall and Abu Dhabi Mall from 4pm and will run until 10pm.
The programme begins in Abu Dhabi Mall this Friday with an arts contest where youngsters can explore their creativity and imagination and bid to win painting sets and ‘Summer in Abu Dhabi’ tickets. It will be hosted by the UAE-born child prodigy Sidhanth Bhaghandani who is now a New York-based painter, illustrator, teacher and arts counsellor whose work has been exhibited in the Big Apple, Dubai and Bombay.
Later Abu Dhabi Mall shoppers will be able to see a performance by the international dance and acrobatic troupe Piso Caliente.
Over in Al Wahda Mall kids can also learn about science and challenge their knowledge and abilities in a series of puzzles which they stand to win as well as ‘Summer in Abu Dhabi’ tickets. The science sessions will be hosted by humanoid Rob OT. Al Wahda Mall shoppers will later get the chance to see a performance by the dancer, gymnast and acrobat Svetlana.
The sessions will be highly interactive with mall audiences being quizzed periodically on their knowledge of the ‘Magic On Ice’ spectacular, which opens at the Sheikh Zayed Sports City Ice Rink on August 1 with tickets for the ice-magic extravaganza going to those answering correctly.
“We are looking to ensure ‘Summer in Abu Dhabi’ engages the community throughout the emirate and benefits some of our key stakeholders,” explained Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Section Head, ADTA.
