Dubai Electronic Security Center participated at ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security hosted by the New York University at Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the center for the first time in the Middle East. The conference is one of the region’s most important cyber security related events covering a wide number of technical topics around recent cyber security related threats and challenges.
Dr. Hoda Alkhazimi, Director of the Center for Electronic Security at NYUAD, stressed the importance of building collaborative research relations between the government, industry and academia at the global level in the UAE to stimulate a dynamic environment in the development and construction of innovative security solutions in the UAE.
Dr. Marwan Alzarooni, Director of the Information Services Department at the Dubai Electronic Security Center delivered a speech that stressed on the center’s main objectives, which is to protect all the government and semi-government department’s information, communications network and information systems in the Emirate of Dubai, as well as enhancing, adjusting and implementing the necessary methods in the realm of cyber security and raising efficiency of information storage and exchange.
He also shed light on one the center’s role, which is to set the Emirate’s policy in information security to implement the procedures that are necessary to provide electronic security, as well as to enhance the strategic plans to confront any risks or threats to the government information in coordination with all concerned government authorities.
In this regards, H.E Yousef Hamad Al Shaibani, CEO of DESC, endorsed the important role that local initiated researches and conferences do in transferring and building knowledge in the UAE in the field of cyber security and ultimately amongst researchers, expertise and attendees . He also added that DESC is closely collaborating with the universities and research centers to support information security research projects and empowering students with the necessary tools and knowledge in cyber security, in line with Dubai Cyber Security Strategy that is managed by DESC.
