HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a delegation led by Hisashi Michigami, Japanese General Consul in Dubai, along with Jumpei Yamaguchi, Vice Consul of the Economic Section of the Consulate General of Japan, and Hikaru Mizuno, Director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
Al Tayer stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with Japanese energy companies, as well as enhancing economic and commercial relations between Japan and the UAE. Al Tayer also highlighted the steps for building a long-term relationship between the two countries.
The meeting highlighted DEWA’s projects to enhance economic, environmental, and social sustainability, while contributing to making Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.
Al Tayer noted the importance of diversifying energy resources, and increasing reliance on solar projects to meet future needs, to carry out the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. The Strategy aims to provide 7% of Dubai’s energy from clean energy sources by 2020, 25% by 2030, and 75% by 2050.
The visiting delegation commended DEWA’s efforts to achieve sustainable development in the Emirate, and praised the services DEWA’s provides to Dubai based Japanese companies.
