Mohammed bin Rashid visits DHA

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited the headquarters of Dubai Health Authority (DHA). During his visit, sheikh Mohammed inspect the flow of work and a number of projects and studies prepared as part of the Dubai's comprehensive strategic plan for 2016-2021.

Crown Prince of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Director General of Dubai Protocol Department Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman and Group Chairman of Meraas Abdulla Ahmed Al Habbai accompanied His Highness during his visit.

Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority Humaid bin Obaid Al Qatami briefed Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanied delegation on DHA’s plans and initiatives to improve healthcare services as part of Dubai’s efforts to take this sector to the international standards and encourage medical tourism.

DHA’s new projects include a smart system developed by the emirate's health regulator to determine the cost of treatment at hospitals, clinics and health centers, and generate revenue reports.

Al Qatami's presentation also explained how an ambitious strategy developed by the health authority would ensure better institutional performance and measure improvement in a transparent way in order to achieve the goals.

Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed about an initiative to standardize and digitize all medical files of patients at public and private health facilities.

Other projects that he learnt about included a new 1000-bed medical complex, expected to contribute to plans to attract more than 500,000 medical tourists from the UAE and overseas, by 2020. The 10-storey Rashid Medical Complex would house state-of-the-art equipment, 250 wards, 1,000 out-patient clinics as well as amenities such as a five-star hotel, green residential buildings and shopping areas.

Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the plans to build dialysis units and long-term medical care centres in Al Barsha, Tawar, Zaabeel, Uptown Mirdiff and other areas in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed commended the health authority's ambitious strategy and stressed that he takes a keen interest in ensuring all possible support to comprehensively upgrade its services and facilities, and contribute towards spreading the culture of happiness and enhancing social stability in Dubai.

Praising the staff of the health authority for its efforts to advance performance and quality of services, he directed the top officials to focus on innovation, research and development, as well as training of the national staff to improve efficiency.
