Dubai Future Foundation unveils Keynote 2016 agenda

Dubai Future Foundation revealed the agenda of  the international Blockchain technology conference, Keynote 2016, which kicks off on Monday, May 30, making Dubai the first Arab city to host the conference. On the occasion, the Global Blockchain Council will launch the first four initiatives in digital financial transactions aimed at improving the operating systems related to trading mechanisms as part of the its efforts to adopt the latest technology and explore its impact on various sectors.

The four pilot projects will be launched during a panel discussion on the impact of these projects in transactions between entities and individuals. Under these initiatives, DIFC will preserve and record people’s assets; Loyyal will promote Dubai tourist locations; DMCC will enhance the trade flow and registrations; and will also certify rough diamonds through Blockchain using Kimberly international certification process.

On this occasion, Saif Al Aleeli, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation,  the founding member of the Global Blockchain Council said: “Dubai has become a model for innovation practices by launching the Global Blockchain Council’s initiatives at the Keynote Conference which will be the main pillars of the roadmap on digital financial transactions and the adoption of Blockchain system in the financial sector.”

Al Aleeli said the presence of international experts at the conference offers a great opportunity to discuss the implementation of Blockchain technology and the relevant international laws and practices in this field. “Our strategy of implementing this technology is based on thorough studies of actual statistics on the impact of Blockchain systems and digital currencies in financial markets and trading as well as its role in enhancing investment rates,” he added.

The agenda includes several sessions and panel discussions with the participation of international experts in the field of digital currencies to highlight the application of digital financial transactions. The conference will host influential speakers and decision makers from major financial institutions from countries around the world such as the Netherlands, Germany, Japan and the United States, and will have the participation of representatives of major private and public sectors companies from inside and outside the UAE.

A panel discussion featuring Magnus OlssonCEO at Careem, Anthony Butler CTO at IBM Cloud, Alvaro, Abella is a Managing Partner and CFO of BECO Capital, Victor Kiriakos MD Flat6Labs, David Chapman COO at ANX International, Peter Rizzo Editor at CoinDesk will discuss innovation based on future plans of the UAE government. It will specifically focus on innovation in financial technology, and investments like Blockchain systems.

Marco Streng, CEO of Genesis-Mining in Germany, will be on stage to discuss digital currency Bitcoin mining, and the potential of secured Blockchain transactions. Iqbal Ali Khan from IBM will speak on IBM's strategy on implementing Blockchain technology to increase efficiency across different industries, in particular transforming the trade ecosystem through Blockchain technology. 

Ken Lo, CEO of ANX International, who runs the largest Blockchain solutions team in the world out of Hong Kong, will speak on building scalable Blockchain solutions and reducing implementation costs to zero. Floris Kleemans, Chairman of Focafet and former Head of Strategy at ABN AMRO, will highlight a global initiative to transform trade, finance, banking, and the internet via Blockchain technology.

A panel discussion on the past, present, and future of bitcoin and its relationship with blockchain technology and future implications will feature Esteban Van Goor Tax Lawyer, Baker & McKenzie, Jan Skoyles Head of Marketing at Coinsilium, Mate Tokay COO at Bitcoin.com, Harry Yeh Managing Partner , Marco Krohn CFO Genesis Mining, and Bruce Fenton Executive Director at Bitcoin Foundation In line with the UAE strategy to shift to knowledge economy, the Creative Director of Blockchain Education Network will present its global strategy for educating students about this technology.

Dr. Aisha Bin Bishr, Director General of the Smart Dubai Office, will be the keynote speaker at a session highlighting the potential offered by Blockchain in efficient documentation of digital financial transactions. The session will discuss the role of digital currencies, smart contracts and other innovative solutions integrating Blockchain systems in creating a smarter and more efficient economy and ushering in sustainable growth of all strategic sectors.

The Dubai Future Foundation is hosting the Keynote Conference in Dubai as part of the Dubai Future Agenda approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as a roadmap for the Dubai Future Foundation to shape the future of the strategic sectors. The conference aims to present Dubai as an international destination for the digital financial products and explore future opportunities to achieve sustainable growth of the UAE economy.
