Smart Dubai is set to host the second edition of its now-flagship “Future, Now” exhibition, which will run from April 29 until May 2, 2018, at the Dubai Design District (d3). Smart Dubai will be launching a new initiative during the event, in addition to showcasing the emirate’s latest successes in terms of smart technology, and the progress Smart Dubai has made on its projects and initiatives, which are fuelling Dubai’s smart-city transformation. These include the Dubai Paperless Strategy, the Dubai Data Initiative, and the Dubai Blockchain Strategy. The event also includes workshops, interactive sessions, and various activities. Her Excellency Dr Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director General of the Smart Dubai Office (SDO), said: “Organising the ‘Future, Now’ event for the second year in a row reaffirms Dubai’s global leadership in the smart cities sector. Inspired by its strong, visionary leadership, the emirate has established itself as an exemplary smart city and a global role model, in line with the aspirations of the government of the future and the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071 Plan.” The “Future, Now” event will host a series of workshops to discuss the initiatives spearheaded by Smart Dubai in sectors like artificial intelligence (AI) and Blockchain, as well as the services developed to spread happiness among members of the community. These workshops will take place to mainly to upskill government entities with the latest technical skills in relation to our smart initiatives. Another initiative that will receive its share of the spotlight is the Dubai Blockchain Strategy, which revolves around three main pillars: Increasing government efficiency by transferring 100% of applicable government transactions to the Blockchain network; strengthening industry creation; by creating a new Blockchain-based business model; and securing Dubai’s global lead in terms of adoption and implementation of Blockchain networks and transactions. “Future, Now” will also showcase the Dubai Data Initiative, and the updates recently made to the project in order to improve Dubai’s economic prospects and empower the community by providing value from data and creating jobs. This, in turn, benefits all stakeholders, including government entities, private companies, businesspeople, citizens, residents, and visitors. Smart Dubai’s affiliate, the Dubai Data Establishment, had collaborated with Dubai’s Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) back in February to launch the Dubai Data Policies, which seek to organise the publishing and sharing of data as a key component of Dubai’s digital wealth, and to maximise data’s real positive economic potential. The Policies are the second most important pillar of the data initiative following the Dubai Data Law, launched in October 2015. |
