Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Committee (ADSIC) held today, the second forum of Abu Dhabi e-government programme under the slogan "Towards Achieving a Service-Oriented Government" at Beach Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
The forum embodied ADSIC’s awareness of all government entities’ active role, and the consolidation of effective cooperation aiming at a highly efficient government providing world class services for the benefit of all its customers.
The forum was attended by representatives of more than 30 government entities including IT and strategic planning directors concerned with the e-government programme in Abu Dhabi and enabling it to become a concrete reality.
The forum’s programme included the launch of the second version of the IT Architecture and Standards reference. The first one, issued in late 2006, formed a solid basis for Abu Dhabi in the digital field.
This version is an outstanding achievement in the drive of Abu Dhabi Government modernization programme assigned to ADSIC under the directions of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and the follow-up of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council.
Abu Dhabi IT Architecture and Standards represent the cornerstone of the e-government initiative which represents, in turn, an essential part of the Abu Dhabi Policy Agenda.
"The technical standards and guidelines of this version have been developed to consolidate the continuous progress achieved by the e-government in order to work in a secure and integral manner at the highest levels of performance throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi," Rashed Lahej Al-Mansouri, ADSIC Chairman, disclosed in his speech at the forum.
In the same context, Al-Mansouri added, "This progress could not have been possible without the close coordination and collaboration between all Abu Dhabi Government entities and several federal government departments at both the division and technical levels." Samir Abdul Latif, Director of the ADSIC Strategy and Policy Division said, "Abu Dhabi IT Architecture and Standards are considered an active reference ensuring harmony, facilitating integration and linkage, simplifying the maintenance approach, and organizing future investments of information among all government entities." Hussein Karamstaji, Director of ADSIC IT Standards, added, "Undoubtedly, the extent of the success of Abu Dhabi Architecture and Standards will be judged on basis of their achievements. We, therefore, work with policy makers, directors and technology experts in Abu Dhabi Government as well as other entities in UAE to implement Abu Dhabi Architecture and Standards. We will strive to continuously modify and develop this reference in our pursuit to make Abu Dhabi one of the world’s leading cities that adopt the best IT administrative and technical practices."
During the forum, Abu Dhabi e-government strategy was reviewed, and several important ongoing initiatives assigned to ADSIC were presented.
