President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a law amending Law No.16 of Year 2005, thus restructuring the Environment Authority-Abu Dhabi.
Law No. 5 of Year 2009 stipulated that the Environment Authority will be chaired by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and will be governed by a board of directors composed of a minimum of eight and a maximum of eleven members including the chairman of the board, his deputy and Managing director. An Emiri decree to be issued will specify their remunerations.
The tenure of membership in the board of directors will be two years, which can be renewed. The Board of Directors will appoint a secretary general and specify his duties and remuneration.
The law will take effect from the date of its issuance and will be published in the official gazette.
