UAE’s Japanese Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Tatsuo Watanabe, held a reception at his residence yesterday in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council to congratulate 8 students from Al Khama’el and Al Gharbiya Model Schools who were chosen to participate in the Summer Camp Program 2010 in Japan that is organized by Mitsubishi Corporate Middle East and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU). The 15 years old students will be accompanied by their school principals to ensure their well being and monitor their performance.

Speaking at the event, H.E. Dr. Al-Khaili said: “ADEC would like to congratulate the eight students who have excelled in their studies in this past year, illustrating their passion to learn and genuine desire to discover and understand other cultures. As part of ADEC’s 10-Year-Strategic Plan, we encourage openness and respect of other cultures by implementing study abroad programs such as the Summer Camp in Japan this summer”

“We would like to sincerely thank Mitsubishi and APU for their commitment to education and helping to create this enlightening experience to further enhance world-class quality education for Abu Dhabi’s students,” added H.E. Dr. Al-Khaili.

The students take off from Abu Dhabi airport on Sunday, 4th July and return on the 14th. The program entails five days of study at the APU campus in Beppu City in the Oita Prefecture, a renowned Japanese tourist destination. Students will attend lectures and debates that will enlighten them on topics such as Japanese culture, Japanese history, management, finance and marketing, sociology, technology, governance and sustainable development. During the last two days of the program, the students will tour Tokyo and visit the Mitsubishi Corporation Head Office.

“As Japan’s ambassador to the UAE, it brings me great joy that younger generations share my passion to link and establish strong relations through education and travel between the two unique cultures of Japan and the UAE. I strongly commend and urge for more partnerships such as the one between ADEC and Mitsubishi/APU to transpire for the success of our children and our countries,” commented HE Mr. Watanabe.

The summer camp is fully sponsored by Mitsubishi Corporation including all flights, ground transportation, accommodation, entry fees and meals. Mitsubishi Corporation plays an important role in liaising between Abu Dhabi Education Council and APU to ensure successful implementation of the Summer Camp program.
